Scents of Wood

Scents of Wood was founded by Fabrice Croisé, a French perfume-industry veteran who set out to make wood the point of a fragrance rather than its backdrop. Its name nods to shinrin-yoku — Japanese "forest bathing" — and its signature is unusual: every scent is built on organic sugarcane alcohol aged in vintage barrels that once held bourbon, rye, cognac, or maple syrup, so the wood becomes an ingredient in its own right.
