The Story

Gourmand. Mysterious. Delectable.

Smoked Maple & Woods

Rich, smoky syrup and candied woods collide in this addictive fragrance, blending the golden sweetness of maple with the deep mystery of the forest. Cedarwood Atlas lends an earthy, leathery warmth, touched with balsamic sweetness, while Peru Balsam weaves in decadent notes of vanilla, chocolate, and a whisper of white florals.

A Nostalgic Tradition

Inspired by the tender ritual of early spring in Canada, this scent captures the magic of tapping maple trees, collecting sap, and crafting syrup deep in an oak-filled forest—a delicious, woody tribute to the heart of a sugar house.

Warm & Enveloping

As the scent deepens, rich resins and smooth woods embrace the senses, wrapping you in a velvety warmth that lingers. Smoky undertones mingle with sweet, syrupy accents, creating an irresistible balance between indulgence and refinement.

The House

Scents of Wood is an American house founded by Fabrice Croisé, a French fragrance-industry veteran who wanted wood to be the subject of a perfume, not its shadow. The name borrows from shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of forest bathing. What sets the house apart is a technique few others attempt: each fragrance is composed in organic sugarcane alcohol that has been aged in a vintage wooden barrel — casks that once held bourbon, rye, cognac, calvados, or even maple syrup — so the alcohol carries a soft, faintly boozy warmth into the finished scent. The perfumes are made and aged in New York and finished in Utah, composed with a roster of accomplished perfumers; the house's Plum in Cognac took a Fragrance Foundation Award in 2021. Each bottle echoes the theme — a rounded vessel crowned with a hand-finished branch.
