The Story

Fresh wood · Folk · Distinguished

A refreshing sense of character.

A fresh, solid, and dry fragrance that embodies the material it’s named after. This modern woody scent, driven by ambroxan, is irresistibly addictive. Notes of sandalwood, cypriol, and cedar layer together, leaving a strong, powerful impression. Un Bois eau de parfum resonates like a “Fender” or “Gibson” guitar in full swing. The crispness of Italian bergamot and the refined touch of Haitian vetiver complete the blend, making this fragrance a timeless classic for both men and women of today.

Focus on the Ambroxan

Ambroxan, an emblematic perfumery ingredient, stands out for its animalic, ambery facet that enhances woody notes.

Known as an excellent fixative, it is the ideal ethical solution for replacing traditional ambergris, while preserving its unique, luxurious character. At the heart of the amber family, Ambroxan is the flagship ingredient, appreciated for its biodegradability.

Layering

Personalize your perfume with layering

To create a unique fragrance that matches your mood, or your outfit, you can combine Obvious fragrances with each other. For a successful signature, we recommend using two fragrances.

Here are our fragrance suggestions for associations with Un Bois.

Un Bois + Un Poivre = A masculine woody olfactory signature where the wood becomes even drier.

Un Bois + Une Verveine = A masculine freshness

The House

Obvious is the Paris house David Frossard launched in 2020, after years running exports for L'Artisan Parfumeur and founding the Liquides perfume bar. Its credo is in the name: beauty is obvious and needs no explanation. Frossard makes straightforward, eco-responsible fragrances — sustainably formulated, simply presented — as a quiet rebellion against superficiality and show. For him a perfume isn't an ostentatious disguise but a revealing totem: a way back to authenticity, and to nature.
