Swapping Scents at The Drydown Boutique

Hello, and welcome back to The Drydown Boutique Newsletter! As July approaches, we wanted to take time to talk about our upcoming Scent Club, July’s theme, and upcoming events taking place in store. Keep reading to learn more!

You ever make a perfume purchase and then something changes - maybe it’s you or maybe it’s your nose or maybe it’s just a season of life has gone by and you feel differently? Whatever it is, you just don’t jive with this perfume anymore. We’ve been there.

Here, at The Drydown Boutique, we want to see perfumes in happy homes and our community enjoying their frags. That’s why for July Scent Club, we are choosing to forgo a scent profile theme and instead, we’re hosting a Scent Swap!

How it will work

1. Raid your perfume collection for the fumes you’re willing to part with. If you’re anything like me, (Sam) you might already have these set aside waiting for something to do with them.

2. Join us for July Scent Club Saturday July 4th from 6-7:30pm

3. Mingle and trade! Easy peasy!

Rules

1. “No.” is a complete sentence. If someone does not want to trade, they are not required to. Accept their, “no” and move on.

2. No one is required to trade. If you bring a perfume, but don’t find anything you’d like to swap for, that is ok! Your presence is not binding to the swap.

3. Keep things fair. Try to swap bottles for bottles, discovery sets for discovery sets, and samples for samples. That said, if both parties are happy with an “uneven” trade, we won’t stop you!

4. No take backs! Once both parties agree to a swap and physically make the trade, the swap is complete!

Sip and Create feat. Aromas De Salazar

4:30 PM – 6:30 PM Pacific·565 Grand Ave, Carlsbad

Led by Michael Salazar, Perfumer & Founder of Aromas De Salazar

Discover the art of fragrance creation in an immersive, hands-on workshop guided by professional perfumer Michael Salazar. Participants will explore a curated selection of accords—top, middle, and base notes—and learn how to evaluate, combine, and refine them into a personalized fragrance. A glass of something bubbly (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) is included in your ticket.

You’ll begin by sampling and comparing individual accords using scent strips, then experiment with different combinations to identify your preferred scent profile. With Michael’s guidance, you’ll blend your chosen accords drop by drop, testing and adjusting your formula as you go. Every step will be recorded on your formula table, helping you understand the structure and balance of your fragrance.

Once your blend is complete, you’ll strengthen and finalize it inside a 15ml bottle filled with perfumer’s alcohol, and the workshop team will finish your creation with a professionally pressed atomizer. By the end, you’ll leave with your own custom perfume—and the knowledge of how it was built from the ground up.
