The Story
The House
Mekeni is the fragrance house of perfumer Joanna Tregonning, built around her Filipino heritage and the wider Filipino diaspora. Tregonning trained in Mandy Aftel’s perfumery program and at the Institute for Art and Olfaction, and founded the solid-perfume brand SIXVINGT before starting Mekeni. The name is Kapampangan for “come here,” a word of welcome. Its first collection, Pamilya, draws on childhood in the Philippines: family gatherings, traditional desserts and everyday city life.
