More in the Green & Herbal family

The Story

NY1993 marks the moment opulence gave way to minimalism, the same restraint driving fashion and fragrance right now. Heavy musk for green tea and citrus, cold and clear after a decade too much. Inspired by the decade itself, not the trend it inspired.

In 1993, Fashion Week moved into the tents at Bryant Park, Barneys opened on Madison Avenue, and the MTA was testing MetroCards while we still carried subway tokens.

Fragrance was changing, too. Bvlgari’s green tea and L’Eau d’Issey’s water-inspired scent had arrived, bringing a fresh perspective to perfume. Tea, citrus and airy compositions felt right with the more pared-back clothes we were wearing. Soon, CK One would make sharing a fragrance part of the conversation.

NY1993 takes me back to being in New York during that shift. Bergamot, sweet orange and green tea connect it to the fragrances of those years. Basil adds an herbal freshness, while smoked sandalwood gives it the depth I wanted for my own interpretation.

The House

Fleurit is built for a fragrance wardrobe rather than a single signature: each scent stands on its own yet layers cleanly with the rest. Founder and creative director Lynn King was born and raised in New York and remains deeply connected to her Eastern European heritage through scent. Fleurit is now based here in Carlsbad. The line is allergy-tested and IFRA-compliant, with a published ingredient list.
