The Story

Deep spicy green groves on the cool cool California coast.

Big Sur After Rain is one of our most successful products. People have asked for us to make it as a perfume, but I really don’t dig candle oils on the skin. So I took the dominant accord, and many of the same materials and fashioned them into a foggy meditation on coastal California eucalyptus groves that sits wonderfully on the ol’ epidermis.

Eucalyptus is one of my top five favorite smells in the world. The oil alone cannot encapsulate its real essence – balmy, green, woody, and deeply spicy. I hope this perfume captures this for all the seekers and tweakers out there.

The House

D.S. & Durga is the Brooklyn house of David Seth Moltz and Kavi Ahuja Moltz, founded in 2008. David is a self-taught perfumer with a background as a musician; Kavi is a trained architect who designs the buildings the fragrances inhabit — bottles, packaging, an entire visual world. Everything is made in-house in New York, and the house publishes a playlist alongside every scent: music and perfume telling the same story by different means.
